Keeping it Cool: Protecting Your Gear During a Denver Summer
July in Denver is spectacular, but for musicians, the combination of rising temperatures and our signature Colorado dryness can be a recipe for gear disaster. Whether it’s a vintage tube amp overheating or an acoustic guitar top beginning to crack, the summer months require a bit of extra vigilance.
At Soundstructure Studios, we provide a stable, climate-controlled environment for your 24/7 rehearsals, but here are a few tips to keep your equipment in peak condition when the mercury hits 90°F.
1. The "Hot Car" Rule
It’s tempting to leave your gear in the van after a late-night set at Levitt Pavilion or a showcase at Larimer Lounge, but in July, a car can quickly become an oven. High heat can melt the adhesives in speaker cabinets and cause delicate electronics to fail.
